Quadra Concrete Fire Cube, a Fu-Tung Cheng Signature Design
Part modern and part rustic, the Quadra Concrete Fire Cube was expressly designed by Fu-Tung Cheng to rekindle the nostalgia of gathering around a wood-burning campfire. Fu-Tung conceptualized the design of the Quadra Fire Cube to meet three key objectives for the user:
- Make the project approachable to build, utilizing one form to make two concrete pieces;
- Provide an experience that balances between the polished surface of concrete and the earthy materials of lava rock, iron and wood;
- Be a semi-permanent installation, allowing the homeowner to move the fire pit at any time to any location.
The Quadra Fire Cube provides mass appeal with dimensions of 48”W x 58”L. Utilizing CHENG D-FRC mixes, the finished Quadra Fire Cube is 1" thick with each half only weighing 150 lbs., making it easily moveable any place within your backyard or from one home to the next. Whether a front or back yard, the Quadra Fire Cube feels right at home. Whether you're using a restaurant-sized wok to contain a wood-burning fire, cooking with charcoal on an old grill, or plumbing in a gas or alcohol burner, the Quadra Fire Cube is flexible enough to fit your needs.
The Quadra Fire Cube How-to Instructional Project Drawings include 12 pages of clearly illustrated step-by-step instructions detailing form construction, techniques for hand-packing D-FRC, and tips on de-molding, finishing, and installing. Drawings also include a full list of materials and supplies required to complete the project.
