Westcoat EC-24 Temper-Crete Urethane | 246 fl oz Kit
About
Urethane cement resin for floors that take heat, chemicals, and heavy traffic
Floors in commercial kitchens, breweries, and processing plants deal with hot spills, aggressive cleaners, and sudden temperature swings every day, conditions that can break down standard floor coatings over time.
EC-24 is the liquid half of a Temper-Crete urethane cement floor. This 100% solids, low odor, two-component urethane is mixed with a bag of TC-24 Temper-Crete Cement or TC-75 Temper-Crete RT Cement to create a monolithic floor with high compressive strength and resistance to thermal shock, heat, and chemicals. It comes in Clear or five pigmented colors that give the floor integral color. The same resin is used to prefill cracks and spalls before the floor goes down and as the base of an optional primer coat. Floors are ready for light foot traffic in about 8 hours.
EC-24 is used in Westcoat Temper-Crete systems for commercial kitchens, breweries, warehouses, and food processing plants, and as the base layer of the Tidalstone High Build system for showrooms, offices, and laboratories.

Choosing Your Color
Color can vary between products and with Temper-Crete's naturally mottled finish, so the colors shown here are for reference only. We can provide actual color samples of Westcoat products on request, and we recommend applying a sample on site before beginning your project.
How-To
Application Instruction Overview for EC-24 Temper-Crete Urethane
IMPORTANT! Before You Begin: Review the complete EC-24 Temper-Crete Urethane Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS), linked above, along with the Westcoat system specification for the floor you're installing. The information below is a brief overview and does not replace the manufacturer's complete application instructions. Apply a test area on site to confirm color and finish before beginning the full application.
Materials and Supplies
- TC-24 Temper-Crete Cement or TC-75 Temper-Crete RT Cement, as your system specifies (one bag per EC-24 kit)
- Mechanical mixer
- Collomix Mixing Bucket - 9 Gallon (a full kit and bag won't fit in a 5 gallon bucket)
- Gauge rake
- 18" pin roller (or loop roller for RT systems) with spare roller covers
- Concrete diamond blade for cutting cracks, joints, and anchor keyways
Step 1 – Prepare the Surface
- Apply only to prepared concrete, never over existing coatings, tile, or wood
- Concrete must be at least 3,500 psi, porous, cured a minimum of 14 days, and clean, dry, and free of laitance, curing agents, and contaminants
- Prepare to a profile of CSP 3–5 (CSP 3–4 for Tidalstone High Build)
- Cut anchor keyways 6" from all free edges, walls, drains, and both sides of joints, at two times the thickness of the floor; do not feather edge
- Test the slab for moisture; allowable limits depend on floor thickness, so check the system specification
Step 2 – Condition and Mix
- Condition all materials at 60°F–75°F for at least 24 hours before use
- Premix Part A and Part B separately, then mix the entire contents together for 30 seconds with a mechanical mixer
- Slowly add one bag of TC-24 or TC-75 cement and mix about 60 seconds until uniform, scraping the sides of the vessel
- Do not thin EC-24, change the mix ratio, or overmix
- Pot life is 5–10 minutes, so remove the mix from the vessel immediately
Step 3 – Treat Cracks and Prime (If Needed)
- Prefill cracks, spalls, and voids by troweling in a mix of EC-24 and TC-24 cement; allow 8–10 hours at 72°F before coating
- Prime only when concrete variations or the desired finish call for it, following the system specification
Step 4 – Place the Temper-Crete Coat
- Pour immediately and spread with a gauge rake: 1/8" to 1/4" thick with TC-24, or 3/16" to 1/4" thick with TC-75, on level surfaces or slopes up to 2%
- Pour each mix into the wet edge, using multiple mixing buckets to keep pace
- Roll the entire floor within about 5 minutes at 72°F, then cross roll
- For broadcast systems, follow the system specification for broadcast timing and topcoats
Step 5 – Allow to Cure
- Allow light foot traffic after 8 hours at 72°F
- Allow heavy traffic and exposure to moisture and chemicals after 72 hours
Installation Limitations
- Designed for professional use only, by experienced applicators
- For interior use only
- Do not apply below 50°F or above 85°F
- Do not apply to damp or wet surfaces, in direct sunlight, or while temperatures are climbing, which can cause pinholes and cracking
- Do not apply over concrete with ASR or concrete susceptible to ASR
- Finished floors have a mottled appearance and follow the lay of the existing slab
- Material will discolor over time, faster under UV and some artificial lights
- May be slippery when wet
- Do not allow to freeze

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions About EC-24 Temper-Crete Urethane
What do I mix EC-24 Temper-Crete Urethane with?
Each 246 fl oz kit is mixed with one bag of TC-24 Temper-Crete Cement or TC-75 Temper-Crete RT Cement, depending on the system. Use the full contents of both, and don't thin the resin or change the ratio.
How much floor will one kit cover?
With TC-24, each kit covers about 40–45 sq ft at 1/8" or 20–22.5 sq ft at 1/4". With TC-75, it covers about 43–46 sq ft at 3/16" or 28–31 sq ft at 1/4". Plan for extra if you're prefilling cracks or priming.
What colors does EC-24 come in?
EC-24 comes in Clear, Cape Cod Gray, Concrete Gray, Deep Tan, Pewter Gray, and Tile Red. The pigmented colors are special order and may take up to 10 business days to ship, and they have a 6-month shelf life unopened, compared to 2 years for Clear.
How soon can I walk on a Temper-Crete floor?
Light foot traffic is fine after 8 hours at 72°F. Wait 72 hours before heavy traffic or exposure to water and chemicals, and longer in colder conditions.
Can I install it over an existing epoxy floor or tile?
No. Temper-Crete goes directly on prepared concrete only, not over coatings, tile, or wood.
How much moisture can the slab have?
At 3/16" or thicker, Temper-Crete can go over slabs with up to 20 lbs/1,000 sq ft or 99% RH. At 1/8", the limit drops to 15 lbs/1,000 sq ft or 95% RH, so test the slab before you start.
Can EC-24 be used outdoors?
No, it's for interior use only. UV light will discolor the floor over time.
Is a Temper-Crete floor slippery?
It may be slippery when wet. For more slip resistance, the Temper-Crete SLB, SLC, and SLQ systems, along with RTB and RTC, broadcast aggregate into the wet base coat.
