WHAT IS TYPICAL PAD LIFE AND WEAR?

Diamond polishing pads typically last several hundred square feet or more, depending on how they are used.

Pad life varies based on:

  • Surface hardness and roughness
  • Grinding pressure
  • Amount of water used
  • Frequency of use

The diamonds are embedded in the resin matrix of the pad. Continue using the pad until the fabric or Velcro backing begins to show, which indicates the diamond layer has been worn away.

Diamond pads do not deteriorate in storage and can last for many years if not heavily used.

HOW SHOULD I USE DIAMOND POLISHING PADS?

These pads are offered in the grits most commonly used for grinding and honing concrete countertops.

  • 50 grit | Fast cutting for exposing aggregate
  • 100 grit | Refines the surface after the 50 grit step
  • 200 grit | Final grinding step when preparing concrete for coating sealers such as Ovation or Omega

Grinding beyond 200 grit is usually unnecessary when using coating sealers, since the sealer provides the finished sheen

WHAT IS THE OPTIMAL POLISHER SPEED?

For best performance, use a wet polisher running between 3000 and 4000 RPM, or as fast as your wet polisher allows.

Maintain enough water flow to flush grinding slurry from under the pad and keep the pad cool during use.

CCI’s 5” Wet Diamond Polishing Pads are designed specifically for grinding and honing concrete countertops. A high concentration of tightly graded industrial diamonds delivers fast cutting with smooth, swirl-free results, while the flexible pad design and wide slurry channels help reduce clogging and extend pad life during wet grinding.

    • Designed for Concrete Countertops | Engineered specifically for concrete rather than adapted from granite polishing pads
    • Fast, Efficient Cutting | High diamond concentration removes material quickly while maintaining control
    • Smooth, Swirl-Free Surface | Tightly graded diamonds produce a consistent finish with minimal scratch patterns
    • Flexible Long-Life Pad Design | Thin enough to conform to curved sinks and edges while remaining durable
    • Wide Slurry Channels | Deep grooves flush slurry and debris away from the pad to reduce clogging and scratches
