Durável Colour Seal WB Water-Based Acrylic Concrete Sealer
About
Durável Colour Seal WB is a professional-grade solid color water-based acrylic concrete sealer designed to protect, color, and enhance concrete and cement-based overlays. Formulated with high-performance acrylic resins, Colour Seal WB provides excellent adhesion, abrasion resistance, stain resistance, and long-term durability while delivering rich, consistent color across patios, driveways, walkways, pool decks, balconies, and decorative concrete surfaces.
Unlike traditional paints that can trap moisture and peel over time, Colour Seal WB creates a vapor-permeable coating that allows moisture vapor to escape while still protecting the surface from weather, wear, and common contaminants. Its UV-stable and alkali-resistant pigments help maintain long-lasting color retention without excessive fading, making it suitable for both residential and commercial environments.
In addition to Durável’s 25 standard colors, Colour Seal WB can also be custom tinted through the Durável InstaTint system, offering more than 1,200 decorative color options. Custom color matching is also available for many popular manufacturer colors, making it easier to coordinate with existing finishes, surrounding materials, or established color palettes.
Colour Seal WB is designed for thin-coat application, allowing the coating to cure properly while creating a more durable finish than a single heavy coat. It can be applied to properly prepared concrete and overlays using rollers or airless sprayers and is suitable for both smooth and textured surfaces.
The water-based formula offers low odor application with easy soap-and-water cleanup, making it a practical option for decorative concrete projects both indoors and outdoors.

Instructions
Important Before You Begin
Always read the complete Technical Data Sheet and Safety Data Sheets linked above before starting your project. Proper surface preparation, environmental conditions, and application methods are critical for long-term performance.
Why Moisture Conditions Matter Before Applying Colour Seal WB
Concrete and overlay surfaces must be dry before applying ColourSeal WB. Excessive moisture vapor transmission (MVT) can cause whitening, hazing, blushing, or mineral deposits to develop within or on top of the coating after installation.
For best results:
- Apply only to dry concrete and cement-based surfaces
- Surface and ambient temperatures should remain between 50°F and 90°F during application and curing
- The substrate should be at least 5°F above the dew point
- Avoid applying during rain, excessive humidity, or conditions where moisture may condense on the surface
- Newly poured concrete should generally cure for a minimum of 28 days before coating, depending on environmental conditions and slab moisture levels
How to Prepare Your Concrete Surface for Colour Seal WB
Sound Surface Requirements
Do not apply Colour Seal WB over flaking, peeling, spalling, or failing concrete. Any damaged or deteriorated areas should be repaired before coating.
Proper Concrete Cure Requirements
Concrete must be sufficiently cured before application. Newly poured concrete typically requires a minimum 28-day cure prior to sealing. Cement overlays should follow the cure schedule recommended by their manufacturer.
Cleaning the Surface Before Sealing
All contaminants that could interfere with adhesion must be removed before application, including:
- Dirt and dust
- Oil and grease
- Paints and adhesives
- Existing non-acrylic sealers
- Water-based coatings
- Curing compounds
- Efflorescence
- Rust or algae
- Other chemical contaminants
Concrete Surface Profile Recommendations
Concrete should generally have a surface profile similar to ICRI CSP-1. Dense or hard-troweled concrete may require mechanical profiling such as grinding or shot blasting to improve adhesion.
Concrete pH Guidelines
Prepared concrete should typically fall within a pH range of 8.0–10.0 prior to application. Surfaces outside this range may require additional preparation or neutralization before coating.
Recommended Environmental Conditions for Applying Colour Seal WB
- Apply only when substrate and ambient temperatures are between 50°F and 90°F
- Avoid application during excessive heat, direct sunlight, or high wind conditions whenever possible
- Exterior applications should remain dry for at least 12 hours after completion
- Turn off sprinkler systems during application and for at least 24 hours afterward
- Avoid applying to damp or wet surfaces
How to Mix Durável Colour Seal WB
- Stir the material thoroughly before application to ensure uniform consistency and color
- If material has been stored for an extended period, mix well to fully reincorporate any settled components
- When using multiple containers on the same project, box the material together before application to help maintain color consistency across the surface
- Minor batch-to-batch color variation is considered normal
How to Apply Colour Seal WB Concrete Sealer
Roller Application
- Use a 1/4”–3/8” nap roller for smooth concrete surfaces
- Use a 1/2”–3/4” nap roller for textured or rough concrete
- Apply in thin, even coats while maintaining a wet edge
- Cross-roll the material to help minimize roller lines and improve uniformity
Sprayer Application
- Airless sprayers should have a minimum output capacity of approximately 0.5 GPM
- Maintain consistent spray passes for even coverage
- Keep the spray pattern perpendicular to the surface whenever possible
- Maintain a wet edge during application
Coverage & Number of Coats
- First coat coverage typically ranges from 180–220 sq ft per gallon
- Second coat coverage typically ranges from 200–240 sq ft per gallon
- Coverage will vary depending on substrate porosity and application method
The first coat may appear blotchy or uneven as the substrate absorbs material. A second coat is required to achieve proper color consistency, coverage, durability, and long-term protection.
For reseal applications where the existing color is similar, one coat may be sufficient. Significant color changes may require additional coats for proper hide.
ColourSeal WB is designed for thin-coat application. Two thin coats will provide better curing and durability than one heavy coat.
Dry & Cure Times
- Tack-free: approximately 1–2 hours
- Recoat window: 4–24 hours
- Foot traffic: after 24 hours
- Heavy traffic: after 48 hours
- Vehicular traffic: after 4–5 days
Cool temperatures, high humidity, reduced airflow, or thick applications may extend cure times.
Important Tips & Precautions for Best Results
- Always review the weather forecast before application
- Keep the surface dry for at least 24 hours before application whenever possible
- Protect freshly coated surfaces from rain or moisture exposure for a minimum of 12 hours
- Color appearance may vary depending on lighting, surrounding materials, and substrate texture
- Testing a sample area before full application is strongly recommended to help confirm the final appearance
- Quart sizes are ideal for color testing, sheen evaluation, and sample preparation
- Maintaining a wet edge during application will help reduce lap lines and uneven sheen
- Applying multiple thin coats will provide better durability and appearance than one thick coat
- Compatibility testing is recommended before recoating over existing sealers or coatings
How to Clean Tools After Applying Colour Seal WB
Clean rollers, brushes, sprayers, and tools immediately after use with soap and water.
How to Maintain Colour Seal WB on Concrete Surfaces
- Keep surfaces free of abrasive dirt and debris to help reduce scratching and wear
- Clean periodically using a pH-neutral cleaner
- Avoid aggressive pressure washing, which may shorten the service life of the coating
- Clean spills promptly to help minimize staining
- Depending on wear and exposure conditions, resealing may eventually be required to maintain appearance and protection
- Typical reseal intervals may range from approximately 4–5 years depending on traffic and environmental exposure
